Description

Chinese Antique Song Dynasty Jingdezhen Qingbai Porcelain Tea Cup with Saucer (南宋景德镇窑青白釉刻花盏与盏托)
Description
: This lovely, rare set of ancient Chinese tea cup dates to the Southern Song dynasty (1127-1279), was made in the renowned Jingdezhen (景德镇) kiln in Jiangxi, China. This style of cup and saucer was quite popular during the Song dynasty. The cup and saucer are coated with a clear crackled Qingbai (青白) or Yingqing (影青) glaze of bluish-white tone, carved with undulating floral scrolls. You can notice beautiful aquamarine (湖水蓝) glaze pooling at the recesses, which is a typical feature of Qingbai glaze porcelains. A cup set in a similar style from the same time period can be found at a Sotheby’s Hong Kong auction (https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auction/2020/china-5000-years/a-qingbai-cup-and-cupstand-song-dynasty-song-qing).
Measure
: Cup – diameter 2.5 in, height 2.1 in; Saucer –  diameter 4.7 in, height 1.6 in.

: Southern Song dynasty (1127-1279)
I am not an expert on Chinese porcelain myself and wasn’t sure about the age, so I get this cup set appraised on a popular Chinese antique appraisal platform. According to two Chinese porcelain experts on that platform who examined it independently, this cup set dates from the Southern Song dynasty and was made in the Jingdezhen kiln. Due to the audio nature of the evaluations, they cannot be shared directly here. But upon request, I can share with you video recordings of the audios playing on the appraisal app. Note that the audios are in Mandarin. Please be aware that the evaluations are provided for reference purposes only. Please understand that return is not accepted if there is a disagreement on the age due to the subjective judgements involved in the appraisal. So please review all the photos carefully prior to purchase, and I can provide photos with more details if needed.
